Which is better for weight loss?

I was doing 30 on a stairmaster with med. resistance and I gained muscle weight. So wouldn’t the lower resistance do it for me on my bike? Wouldn’t I bulk up less?

p.s. I know it takes more than six weeks for healthy weight loss so I don’t want you to misunderstand this as trying to find a quick weight loss method. I am just looking for a good 6 week program that people have had sucess with to begin their weight loss journey.
